This past week we had the opportunity to stay at a lovely little 1950’s seaside holiday cottage which we found on VRBO.com (Vacation Rentals By Owner – you can find locations all over the world on here!). I’m pleased to report that we all LOVED it. It was so cozy and long before the end of our too-short 4-night stay it felt like home. My mother and I marveled at the charming touches and the sweet decor touches throughout the house. If only I had an excuse to do a full house makeover and go with an almost retro yet modern seaside theme!
The kitchen had a fantastic vintage sink: a sink/draining board combo in one beautiful big & curvy enameled unit! The open cupboards were fully stocked with all of the dishware & glassware their visitors could need, all in the seaside-themed whites, blues, grey, turquoise and red. The bathroom had the original cabinets and flooring (white floor tiles would go a long way to updating the look) but it was meticulous & clean, with some cute accents – as was the rest of the place!
We only hope we’ll get the opportunity to go back soon!

I was also pleased how well my latest copy of Style at Home fit right in! “Decorate in classic blues and whites” – how apt!
